Mould & Dies Fabrication Malaysia

Mould & Dies Fabrication Malaysia

Mould and die fabrication is the foundation of high-volume manufacturing. At Professional Tools & Dies Sdn Bhd (PTD), tooling has been our core competency since the company was established in 1990. We design and fabricate precision moulds, dies, jigs and fixtures that support consistent part quality across demanding production environments. Our in-house toolroom is equipped for the full toolmaking process, from design and engineering through machining, heat treatment and final polishing.

What This Service Delivers

This service covers the complete design, engineering and fabrication of production tooling for high-volume manufacturing.

Core Deliverables:

  • Injection mould tooling for plastic components
  • Sheet metal stamping dies (progressive, compound, bending, piercing, coining)
  • Custom jigs and fixtures for production, welding and inspection
  • Tool repair, modification and lifecycle maintenance

The accuracy of a mould or die directly determines the accuracy of the parts produced from it. Precision tooling is a critical upstream investment that governs part quality, production consistency and long-term manufacturing cost.

Engineering & Fabrication Capabilities

Tool Design & Engineering

  • 2D and 3D CAD design
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
  • Mould flow analysis and feasibility validation
  • Early Supplier Involvement (ESI) for new product development

PTD practices ESI to engage with customers at the concept and design stage, helping to identify tooling risks early and reduce the overall cost of product development.

Tool Fabrication Processes

  • CNC milling and high-speed machining
  • Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM)
  • Wire-cut EDM (WEDM)
  • Heat treatment and hardening
  • Precision grinding and polishing

CAD/CAM integration and CNC-controlled machining are applied throughout the toolmaking process to achieve consistent dimensional accuracy across all tooling components.

Specialized Techniques

Progressive & Compound Dies

PTD fabricates both progressive and compound dies for sheet metal stamping operations. Progressive dies carry out multiple forming operations across a series of stations within a single press cycle, with the metal strip advancing automatically between strokes, allowing complex parts to be produced at high speed with minimal manual handling. Compound dies, by contrast, perform blanking and forming simultaneously in a single stroke, making them well suited for flat or simple-profile components where tight dimensional control and high output are the priority. Both die types are supported by an in-house tool maintenance department, ensuring dies remain in optimal condition for consistent long-term performance.

Die types available:

  • Progressive dies (5 or more stations for complex parts)
  • Compound dies (blanking and forming in one stroke)
  • Bending dies (U-bend and V-bend profiles)
  • Coining dies (precision embossing, logo marking and feature refinement)
  • Piercing dies (high-precision hole making)
  • Extrusion dies (for collar forming, raised features and hole extrusion)

High-Precision Injection Moulds

PTD designs and fabricates injection moulds for a wide range of plastic components, from small precision parts to large structural panels. Mould design is performed using 3D CAD with mould flow analysis to validate gate location, filling behaviour and cooling efficiency before fabrication begins.

Mould types available:

  • Multi-cavity moulds
  • Hot runner systems
  • Insert and overmould tooling
  • Prototype and soft tooling for new product introduction

Jigs & Fixtures Manufacturing

PTD manufactures custom jigs and fixtures used across its own production processes and supplied to customers for use in their facilities. These tools are designed to secure parts in consistent positions, guide machining or assembly operations and reduce dependence on operator skill during repetitive tasks.

Jig and fixture types available:

  • Welding jigs for robotic and manual welding processes
  • Inspection fixtures compatible with CMM measurement
  • Machining jigs with CNC-machined locators
  • Heat staking jigs for single and multi-component heat staking
  • Parts holding jigs for spot welding, spinning, tapping and drilling
  • Modular systems for quick changeovers between product variants
