Professional Tools & Dies Sdn Bhd (PTD) delivers high-precision plastic injection molding service as part of its vertically integrated contract manufacturing capabilities, operating from Butterworth, Penang since 1990.
We work with a wide range of engineering-grade resins, from small intricate components to large structural panels, supporting customers across medical, automotive, electronics, and industrial sectors.
Materials we work with include: PC+ABS, PA6, PA66, PMMA, PPS, and glass-filled resins.
| No | Services | Key Features |
| 1 | High-Volume Molding | 24/7 production, <0.5% defect rate |
| 2 | Prototype Molding | 2-week turnaround, low-cost tooling |
| 3 | Overmolding/Insert Molding | Plastic over Metal, Plastic over Plastic |
| 4 | Structure Foam Injection Molding | Large parts with thick walls, reduced material weight |
| 5 | Gas Assist Injection | Large Panel Parts with Superior Quality |

Structural foam molding introduces a blowing agent or inert gas (typically nitrogen) into the molten resin, creating a cellular foam core surrounded by a solid outer skin. This is well-suited for large, thick-walled parts where weight reduction and rigidity are both priorities.

Gas assist injection molding injects pressurised nitrogen gas into the melt after the initial plastic fill. The gas creates hollow channels inside the part, pushing plastic against the mold walls for a consistent, sink-free surface.

PEEK (Polyether ether ketone) is a high-performance semi-crystalline thermoplastic used in demanding applications where conventional engineering plastics fall short. Processing PEEK requires specialist equipment and precise parameter control.

Overmolding and insert molding both combine multiple materials or components into a single finished part, reducing assembly steps and improving part integrity.

Yes – our engineers recommend resins based on your cost/performance needs.
Plastic naturally shrinks as it cools, so accuracy is controlled through mold design, material selection and process optimisation. Engineers compensate for shrinkage during tooling design and adjust parameters like pressure and cooling to maintain consistent final dimensions.
Yes, tight tolerances are achievable depending on material and design. Typical injection molding tolerance is around ±0.1 mm, with tighter tolerances possible under controlled conditions and stable materials, especially for precision or assembly-critical components.
Lead time and cycle time depend on part complexity, material type, mold design and cooling efficiency. Cooling is often the longest stage and optimised cooling systems can significantly improve production speed while maintaining part quality.
